Now this is a Holi 🌈 tradition we can get behind.🩷✨

For centuries, widows in India—particularly those in places like Vrindavan and Varanasi—were marginalized and discouraged from participating in festivities. Celebrating Holi represents a powerful act of defiance against these outdated customs and an assertion of their right to joy and inclusion.💯

Today, they dance, sing, and splash colors inside the historic Gopinath Temple, reclaiming their rightful space in society!💜✨

Thanks to the late Dr. Bindeshwar Pathak’s vision, the ‘Holi of Hope’ began in 2013, breaking centuries-old taboos and restoring dignity to thousands of widows. Under the non-profit’s sulabh.international continued efforts, this vibrant celebration now symbolizes empowerment, social inclusion, and change.
