Electric companies are working overtime to make your utility bill higher. 💡The expansion of tech and AI is driving up energy demands, and customers are being forced to pay the price. 

AI is not cheap. It costs us incredible amounts of water and electricity, and it releases toxins in the air that hurt the environment and the people who live nearby. These AI data centers are not being built just anywhere, they’re strategically placed in Black and brown communities – this is digital redlining. We need our state Attorney Generals to act.

We’re asking them to:
💡 Open investigations into the legality of utility rate hikes tied to corporate tech partnerships
💡 Enforce consumer protection laws: Challenge utilities companies if they mislead customers 
💡 File or join civil rights/environmental justice suits if AI hurts Black communities.
💡 Tell tech companies that they must conduct racial impact reviews before building facilities
💡 Work with other AGs to investigate AI’s impact on marginalized communities
