TEAMMATE SPOTLIGHT: Today, we want to share the perspective of 𝐀𝐥𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐬 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐦𝐬, Tax Accountant at underarmour, on what #BlackHistoryMonth and #UnderArmour’s investment in Historically Black Colleges and Universities means to her. Alexis is a member of the 𝗕𝗘𝗔𝗧 (𝘉𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘌𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘰𝘺𝘦𝘦𝘴 𝘈𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘛𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳) 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 and serves as the Community Lead.

“Black History Month is a time of celebration! We should celebrate being black every month, but I truthfully believe we all tend to get lost in what we see in the media. #BHM is a reminder that we are magical - filled with talent, brains, beauty, honor, and so much more! Everyone needs that reminder.

Under Armour’s investment in programs that support HBCUs is impressive. I'm an alum from tougaloocollege and jacksonstateu, so this hits home. Being represented and supported shows that we matter just as much as non-HBCU schools. In college, I was told many times that the likelihood of me getting a job at a big company was slim because my degree isn't as significant as a Predominately White Institution. #UA's program shows that HBCUs do matter! I'm not here for a demographic purpose, but here because I'm qualified. UA isn't just saying they support, but is also putting in the work behind what they say they would do. That is all we want. It can be draining hearing empty promises and statements about being in support of the community. I see things actually happening here and that speaks volumes!”

Check out the 🔗 in our bio for more information on our support of HBCUs.
