This time 1 year ago, Odile Van Aanholt and Anette Duetz's picked up their Olympic gold medal that very nearly wasn't...

The Dutch duo asserted their dominance in the medal race and looked set to cross the line first until they went the wrong way, thinking the finish line was elsewhere.

As a result, it was Sweden's Vilma Bobeck and Rebecca Netzler who capitalised on their error to win the Medal Race, enough for the reigning world champions at the time to collect an Olympic silver medal 🥈🇸🇪

In a moment of chaos and uncertainty Van Aanholt and Duetz amended their error to cross the finish line in third, a result which, after some nervy calculations, was still enough to secure Olympic gold 🥇🇳🇱
