I was SO NERVOUS for my first photo shoot for koreanveganbeauty I was literally shaking on my way into the studio, telling myself “dude this is your own photo shoot that you paid for with your own money for your own business like why are you so scared?”

I am 46.

I am perimenopausal.

How can I have the audacity to look anything other than haggard, downtrodden, sweaty (hot flashes anyone?), bloated, and utterly defeated? Because the honest to God truth is that all of these words accurately encapsulate my morning, in fact. 😅 And yes, I have the pictures to prove it!

But, this photo shoot proved to me that PM can also look powerful, glowing, confident, poised, elegant, sexy, and beautiful. All of these words perfectly describe how I felt when I had these pictures taken for koreanveganbeauty.

I did not have “Entering My Sexy CEO Era” at the ripe age of 46 on my bingo card, y’all, but here we are, nonetheless.

Funny enough, I used to hate it when people called me “sexy.” I thought it was a consolation prize for not being “pretty” or, even worse, a veiled comment about my size (I’m sure many of you are familiar with my ongoing struggle with my body size). But a few days ago, I decided “What the heck? I’m 46 years old. I am going to EMBRACE the SEXY in me!”

What does “sexy” even mean?

To me, sexy starts and ends with C O N F I D E N C E.

Which, let me tell ya, is a hard-earned thing. It’s about peeling back and discarding whatever makes you feel insecure, threatened, diminished, and small. That isn’t something that happens overnight and, in some cases, can involve a rather painful molting process.

Perhaps that’s why it’s taken me this long to feel I can finally enter this chapter in my life.

Regardless, I am happy to report that it was worth it.

It is worth all of it.
