In a landmark move for the sport, Pro Volleyball Federation (PVF) and Major League Volleyball have announced plans to merge into a single, united league set to elevate professional women’s volleyball in the U.S. The new unified league will be branded as MLV. 🤯⁣
⁣
The unification and modernization of the business model introduce new team owners, league governance, ownership standards, and an innovative approach to off-court player opportunities and fan engagement. 💪⁣
⁣
MLV is considered an evolution of PVF and becomes the longest-running professional women’s volleyball league in the country. It’s also the only league operating with independently owned, in-market teams. 👏⁣
⁣
Set to begin play in January 2026, the upcoming campaign will be recorded as the league’s third season. Teams will be based in Atlanta, Columbus, Dallas, Grand Rapids, Indianapolis, Omaha, Orlando, and San Diego. And the league is already planning for expansion in 2027, with two new franchises slated to launch in Washington D.C. and Northern California. 🔥⁣

The 2026 season officially kicks off this week with the opening of the free agency signing period on Thursday, August 7 at 5 p.m. ET. That’s when teams will begin building their rosters with hopes of capturing the first-ever MLV Championship. 👀⁣
