During a march against the Vietnam War on October 21, 1967, French Magnum photographer Marc Riboud captured a moment that would become one of the most iconic images of the era. In Washington, D.C., 17-year-old Jan Rose Kasmir stands in front of a row of American National Guardsmen, holding a chrysanthemum in her hands.⁣
Riboud photographed the scene with his Leica, documenting the stark contrast between the fixed bayonets and the peaceful gesture of a flower. A powerful symbol of resistance and the impact of nonviolent protest.⁣
