Thankfully all our riders safely finished today’s tourdepologne stage in Wałbrzych 💙

Stage 3️⃣ was neutralized with 15 kilometers remaining after a big crash on a fast descent that affected race leader Paul Lapeira (DAT) among others. 

georgenbennett and matthewriccitello had both tested their climbing legs before the stoppage, while pierandre.cote was our highest finisher in in 16th after racing resumed. 

Côté says: “I think it was a weird day for everyone, to be honest. I’m just hoping everybody’s okay after the crash on the descent. Such a dramatic event takes the breath out of everyone.

“Initially, the plan was to get me into the break. I didn’t execute perfectly in that regard; I followed a bunch of stuff because the break has been going quite early in the last few stages. I sent a Hail Mary on a steep kicker 10 kilometers into the stage - I kind of blew my doors there, and I was out of position when the move did go. But we refocused, and I tried to do my best work for the Matthew [Riccitello], George [Bennett], and [Marco] Frigo on the climbs. We were all committed to the cause - I think Ricci showed really good legs, so this is encouraging for the next few days.

“I found myself in the front group with 15km to go. We decided to go for the sprint with me, and, yeah, I’m pretty disappointed with how I executed it personally. I wanted to be patient, because there was a headwind, but I gave myself too much to do for how the legs were. They didn’t really respond after a hard and weird day.”
