This is a special one. 🤘🏽🧡🤍

I’d be lying to myself if I said I haven’t been looking forward to this post for the last 4 years. So much so, that I’ve put it off for the last few weeks because when the day finally came, I couldn’t quite process nor find the right words to properly acknowledge/express how deeply proud I am of Ella and how far she’s come over the years.

Thinking back, I had no idea what I was getting myself into with this little girl. All I knew was that I had just started pursuing Training Matrix full-time—no logo, small facility, maybe 4-5 clients—and this little girl, Ella, had reached out and really wants to start training. She showed up one day and was this funny, goofy, squirmy, giggly, hyper little ball of energy, with a strangely impressive focus, intensity, and work ethic, who also eventually always brought me an açaí bowl and loved telling me about her day—every. single. day. She was a lot at first, but Ella quickly grew on me and l looked forward to seeing her every session.

One of my first & fondest memories of Ella was on our first day together. I left to grab some equipment and came back to find her hunched over on her hands & knees playing with something on the ground. I asked her what she was doing, she giggled, and says, “I found chalk and wanted to draw you a fish.” I remember questioning what I got myself into, but something in me told me to take a picture of her masterpiece that day, knowing it’ll make a great story to look back on (swipe to the end).

Fast forward to today, through countless hours of consistent & dedicated behind the scenes work together—lifts, early morning practices, recovery work, routine 1:1 check-in meetings, film, phone calls, mental work, nutrition, and so much more—that little Ella is now a Multiple-Time Indoor & Beach National Champion, a USA Indoor & Beach National Team Athlete (NTDP), a National Player of the Year Recipient, and the FIRST EVER University of Texas Indoor & Beach Volleyball Commit in school history.

You’ve made me so incredibly proud, Ella. There’s no one more deserving of this special opportunity and I can’t wait to cheer you on at the next level. Hook em’ 🧡🤍
