Multiple lanes on Interstate 88 in the western suburbs were closed Tuesday morning after pipes spilled off a semi truck and onto the road, with cars struck by debris and traffic expected.⁠

The incident occurred at about 9:20 a.m. in the westbound lanes of I-88 in Downers Grove near milepost 129.5, Illinois State Police said, when a flatbed truck carrying metal pipes drove off the road and struck a light pole.⁠
