Tension, risk, and entertainment were all on the table on Sunday, July 13, as Chesstival made its debut at Wynn, bringing together NBA stars such as Derrick Rose, Rajon Rondo and Tony Snell, and teaming them up with the world’s chess elite for a pro-am chess showdown. Grant Williams won the Head and Hand face-off and Quinten Post aced the NBA Blitz Chess Championship. The two winners split a $50,000 charity prize fund. Chesstival is the kick-off for Freestyle Chess’ first-ever U.S. event: a week of chess, celebrity, and competition, including the $750,000 Freestyle Chess Grand Slam from July 16 to 20.
