#TrialWatch spent 6 months monitoring 24 #blasphemy cases in Lahore, #Pakistan, in 2022. The findings, detailed in a report released today, are acutely distressing. 

Blasphemy accusations, which are easy to make and risk the death penalty, entangle defendants in grueling procedures, with a devastating impact on their lives.

We call on Pakistan to repeal its blasphemy laws and, in the meantime, to implement urgent reforms: combatting false allegations and protecting accused persons from endlessly agonizing trial proceedings and years in detention.
