The NFL has decided to ban the use of ammonia and smelling salts before and during all games—and San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle is not happy about it. 👀⁣

Kittle interrupted teammate Fred Warner’s interview on NFL Network Tuesday afternoon to break the news and “air a grievance,” revealing that the team received a memo from the league outlining the ban. 🫖⁣

According to the memo, the decision comes in response to FDA warnings issued in 2024. Beginning this season, teams are prohibited from “providing or supplying ammonia in any form.” That includes ammonia capsules, inhalers, ammonia in a cup, and any form of “smelling salts.” The ban applies throughout the entire game—including pregame activities, halftime, locker rooms, and sidelines. 😳⁣

Kittle admitted he’s a regular user of smelling salts, often taking them before every offensive drive for an energy boost, saying: “I miss those already.” ☹️⁣
⁣
Smelling salts were originally used to treat fainting victims but have become popular among athletes—especially in football and hockey—as a perceived way to get hyped up. However, due to potential health risks, the NFL has decided to prohibit their use moving forward. 👍⁣
