The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 22-year-old Jermaine Martin. He was struck and killed by a vehicle in the 5400 block of South Kedzie just before 3:30 a.m. Saturday.⁠

According to police, Martin was in a crosswalk when he was struck by the driver of a gray vehicle. The driver of the vehicle disregarded a red light and continued through the intersection, appearing to swerve toward Martin as he tried to avoid the oncoming vehicle.⁠
