Amateur photographer Arthur Cofod jr. was on a routine work assignment when the Hindenburg caught fire in Lakehurst, New Jersey. With his Leica III in hand, he instinctively began shooting, capturing a dramatic series of images that would come to symbolize the end of an era in aviation.⁣⁣
