“Ruth Asawa: Retrospective” opens this weekend and we are giving you a sneak peek!

This first posthumous retrospective presents the full range of Ruth Asawa’s work and its inspirations over six decades of her career. As an artist, Asawa forged a groundbreaking practice through her ceaseless exploration of materials and forms. As an educator and civic leader, Asawa’s impact on San Francisco can still be felt today.

While there are 300+ artworks for you to explore in the exhibition, we’ve selected a few to share with you here (swipe to see more!):

1. Welcome to “Ruth Asawa: Retrospective”!
2. An assortment of Asawa’s looped-wire sculptures
3. One of the artist’s intricate tied-wire sculptures
4. Selection of some of her sketchbooks
5. Mini sculptures! The tiniest sculpture is around 1 inch in diameter
6. One of two bronze casts of the “Peach March” section of Asawa’s “San Francisco Fountain.” You can see the full fountain in Union Square!
7. Artworks that Asawa kept in her Noe Valley home
8. A selection of “Life Masks” the artist made out of clay (she made more than 400 during her lifetime)

Be among the first to see the exhibition—reserve your tickets for this weekend at the link in bio.
