My life changed in a big way when I woke up on Dec 18, 2012 with a heart that wasn’t my own anymore. I knew it had also changed for a family that I didn’t know.  I remember hoping that they would want to be in touch. I remember wondering..who did this heart love? And who loved it back? There is nothing that I have accomplished since that day that I don’t give my donor Kristin credit for because we do it together. I am able because of her, and she is able because of me.  I thank her everyday I rise and look into the eyes of the man that I love and head to the studio to do my life’s work. 
I would soon find out later that my new heart belonged to a beautiful woman named Kristin. When I first saw a picture of her I couldn’t wait to know more about her. Sometime the next year I started communicating with one of her brothers, and I would soon find out she had a daughter. I don’t know whether it was my motherly instinct or Kristin’s but the impulse and need to make sure she was ok was real! It’s been 6 years and I got that chance last week where we finally embraced at her high school graduation(she graduated with honors btw✨). She has the same sparkle in her eyes as her momma! What a beauty! I am so proud of her. The emotions were really beyond words as I stood there in honor of her mother to witness this milestone in her life with her family as we all screamed and cheered at the top of our lungs when her name was called to walk across the stage!
