While promoting her new biopic, “Pardon Me,” she told PEOPLE that the key to progress has been knowing when to step back.⁠

“My co-parenting with Rob is 100 percent amazing,” she shared, adding encouragement for parents still struggling. “For parents that’s going through it right now, I promise you, things do get better.”⁠

The mother of two has been through years of public custody disputes, but she believes that peace came once she began keeping a firm boundary between her personal life and the other parent’s household.⁠

“If you’re going through a custody battle or anything of the sort, I think the main thing for the other parent is to mind their own business,” she said.⁠
