In 2018’s Dragon Challenge, a Range Rover Sport PHEV became the first vehicle to reach China’s Heaven’s Gate by attacking Tianmen Mountain’s 7-mile Dragon Road with 99 turns, then climbing 999 stairs pitched up to 45 degrees; piloted by Le Mans class winner and Jaguar Racing test driver Ho-Pin Tung, the SUV used Terrain Response 2 in Dynamic mode and completed the combined run in just under 23 minutes.
