While the sprinters may have been upset by Rory Townsend holding on to win cyclassics from the breakaway, behind matis_louvel was making the most of his opportunity to sprint for a result. Louvel found himself amongst some of the best sprinters in the peloton and showed good legs to sprint to ninth place, his best ever result at a WorldTour one-day race 👏

🎙️ Louvel: “I’m happy to see that I have recovered well from the Tour de France as I wasn’t sure I had completely recovered but finally, I was feeling good. On the hills, I always stayed in the first 20 or so riders and when it came to the sprint, I was a bit too far back so I did a big effort with around 500 meters to go, so that I was able to get back in with the sprinters. I’m happy to have had the opportunity to show that I have the abilities to go for a good result in a WorldTour race!”
