Happy high holigays! 💅 I’m sharing a personal story: The years of 1994-1997 I attended high school in rural central NY. I wasn’t out. (no teen I knew was) I was more out online. I thrived on AOL where I met most my gay and freaky friends. Thanks to AOL I was in a throuple with two Sacramento riot grrrls who I never met in person. We wrote letters and shared photos. They wore ringer tees. 

Sophomore year I had a light blue Toyota Camry. My best friend had a raver boyfriend with greasy hair whom I loathed. I parked my car in the “dirt road” nearby my house. One morning I woke up to the car keyed with the word #dyke amongst other harsh takes. I didn’t really know what “keyed” was and I also barely understood what “dyke” meant. I shrugged off the words and kept driving my ride and listening to Bratmobile. 

I’m on a flight to Florida now. A state where you “can’t say gay” in high school and books are being banned (read: burned). Where Ron Desantis and friends are harming our community.
