“[EMDR] saved my life.” — mileycyrus, in a recent interview with the nytimes

It’s not often we see conversations about trauma-informed care in mainstream media, and even rarer to hear public figures speak candidly about what actually helped them heal.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a structured therapy that helps people process and reduce the distress tied to traumatic memories. And as Miley puts it, the difference is palpable: “I came out of it [EMDR], and I’ve never had stage fright again.”

EMDR — like all therapies — isn’t one-size-fits-all. But when it’s the right fit, it can be life-changing.

Let’s keep normalizing conversations about trauma recovery, and the therapies that support it. Thank you for sharing your story, mileycyrus (and we highly recommend going to the nytimes social channels to watch the entire interview).
