Planning to head to Southeast Asia in the next few months? Chances are you’ll be hitting a country during shoulder season - so let’s get you ready to nail travelling during a transitional month 🫶🏻

- Know your shoulder seasons!
Tropical climates aren’t just rainy season / dry season. There are two shoulder seasons to plan around, I’ve outlined them in the video for you so do watch it!

A lot of travel agents categorise shoulder season as dry season & send their clients to countries for beach holidays when it’s more likely to rain. So if you’ve gotten a travel agent to book your trip, double check your seasons.

- Beware of anecdotal advice
Shoulder seasons are *unpredictable*: you could have stunning weather on a Monday and flooding on a Thursday. So don’t count on your friends experience during the same month, they may have just gotten lucky.

- Use Instagram map stories to check weather.
Weather forecasts are notoriously unreliable during shoulder season, so I use Instagram stories to judge the weather. I watch them for about a week before I’m heading to the place to get a proper idea of what to expect.

- Book cancellable accommodation
Heavy rains can cause flooding or other problems that can cause you to cancel plans, so make sure your accommodation is refundable. Do the same for activities

- Plan rainy day things to do just in case, and have backup plans in case it rains! This just means that if the rains do hit, you don’t have to spend a day bored indoors.

Shoulder seasons are cheaper & quieter than peak seasons, so it’s a great time to travel! It’s just important to plan well & be prepared in case you do get bad weather. You never know, you also could get very lucky!! We have been many times!

If you have any questions or want to know shoulder seasons do the country you’re going to - ask in the comments ❤️.
