Democratic Texas Rep. #NicoleCollier spent the night on the House floor in protest after refusing Republican demands that she be monitored by state troopers.

When Texas Democrats returned to the Capitol on Monday, after fleeing earlier this month to block a GOP redistricting vote, House Speaker #DustinBurrows ordered that they could only leave the floor with written permission and under police escort until Wednesday, CNN reports.

Most Democrats complied, showing reporters their “permission slips” and trooper escorts. But Collier refused, saying she would not surrender her dignity or submit to what she called Republican “surveillance protocol.” As a result, she’s been confined to the House floor, only allowed to walk to her office under watch and unable to leave the Capitol without agreeing to police supervision.
