The Griffin is back! For the first time since 2016, seniors have a yearbook commemorating their time at Reed. The class of 2023 entered Reed in fall 2019, so they’ve weathered a lot together—which is one reason why editor Michelle O’Shea ’23, pictured in the third photo, was determined to revive the Griffin. (Scroll to the last photo for a peek at earlier editions.)⁠

Michelle, an anthropology major and photographer, began her efforts in January of this year. With $5,000 in student body funding, she whipped together a 75-page, full-color book featuring photos of nearly every graduating senior, hand lettering by scriptorium director Gregory McNaughton ’89 and Sidney Fong ’23, and gorgeous cover illustrations by Flora Gladwin ’23 and Hannah Cohen ’23.⁠

“Take this yearbook as a token of appreciation to you all, for a good four years,” Michelle wrote in her editor’s note. “Hopefully we restarted this tradition for years to come.” We hope so, too.⁠
