Meet Jack O'Hara, '25—a Forensic Science and Spanish double-major, involved in everything from LoyolaCLax to Loyola_Forensics!

Jack found his most meaningful role mentoring first-year students through EvergreensAtLoyola. "In addition to guiding students and helping them find their place to thrive, being surrounded by my fellow Evergreens had such a positive personal impact on me. I'm so fortunate to have had exceptional role models, leaders, and friends I strive to emulate every day."

"We tell first-years at Fall Welcome Weekend to 'get involved,' but since graduation, I see the value of that advice even more. The best parts of college were the people I met through all the different groups I was a part of. Your neighbors, classmates, and peers are what make Loyola special, and the only way to realize that is to go out and find them."

The summer before his senior year, Jack served as a legal intern at Abrams Fensterman, LLP, where he solidified his passion for pursuing a career in criminal law, connected to his Forensic Science coursework. "I started at Loyola undecided on a major, but quickly became interested in Forensic Science after taking a course with Dr. Alan Thoms-Chesley. From incorporating their specializations into coursework or coming to class after working at a crime scene, I have a deep appreciation for the energy of my professors and am excited to utilize what I've learned in my internship and coursework in my future career."

Jack studied abroad in Madrid, Spain, during his junior year—and this fall, he will return to teach English there. "As a Spanish major, I knew I wanted to study abroad, which turned out to be the most influential experience. With the boundless support of our advisor, María José López Pozo, I truly felt at home in Madrid. Breaking out of what is comfortable gave me the confidence to take my post-grad plans back abroad—something I would've never had the courage to do without the growth and support at Loyola."
