Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook has said that she will file a lawsuit to prevent her removal from her position, after Donald Trump announced he is removing her from the role ‘immediately’.⁣

In a letter to Cook posted on social media, Trump claimed there is ‘sufficient reason’ to believe that the policymaker ‘made false statements on one or more mortgage agreements.’⁣

"President Trump has no authority to remove Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook," her lawyer Abbe David Lowell said in a statement.⁣
