Illumination’s Minion Land, the latest addition to Universal Studios Singapore, officially opened its doors today (February 14, 2025), marking a significant milestone in the ongoing evolution of Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) as Asia’s premier lifestyle destination. The new land brings Illumination’s much-loved Despicable Me and Minions franchises to life through an engaging combination of attractions, immersive environments, themed dining, and exclusive merchandise. Guests at Universal Studios Singapore are the first in the world to enjoy two signature experiences: Buggie Boogie, the world’s first Minion dance-party carousel, and the Super Hungry Food Stand, an expanded real-life version of the waterfront snack stand featured in Despicable Me. The grand opening was celebrated with the Minions and Gru and his family, accompanied by showers of yellow balloons and confetti, creating an atmosphere of laughter and excitement.

Mr. Tan Hee Teck, Chief Executive Officer of RWS, described the launch as a proud moment for the resort, emphasizing its role in positioning Singapore as a global tourism destination. He noted that Minion Land will become one of the country’s leading attractions and that it forms part of a broader program of enhancements to Resorts World Sentosa, including new signature dining, a reimagined Forum, a boutique luxury hotel, the upcoming Singapore Oceanarium and Research Learning Centre, and a waterfront lifestyle development. The land is divided into three distinct zones designed to immerse visitors in the playful, mischievous world of the Minions. At Minion Marketplace, guests will discover a wide selection of themed apparel, plush toys, confections, and collectibles across three retail locations: Sweet Surrender, Pop Store, and Fun Store. Gru’s Neighborhood brings the world of Gru, Lucy, and their daughters—Margo, Edith, and Agnes—to life, anchored by the signature attraction Despicable Me Minion Mayhem. This high-energy simulator ride transports visitors through Gru’s secret laboratory, where they are unexpectedly transformed into Minions. The neighborhood is further animated throughout the day by the lively Minute of Minion Mayhem street show, alongside opportunities to meet fan-favorite characters.

Super Silly Fun Land recreates the whimsical seaside carnival from the Despicable Me films, offering a blend of rides, games, and themed food. Guests can spin and dance aboard the Buggie Boogie carousel, take to the skies on the Silly Swirly ride, and test their skills at carnival-style games such as Space Killer and Ba-Na-Na CaBaNa. Dining options include the Super Hungry Food Stand, serving dishes inspired by the films, such as the Unlucky Ducky Creamy Chicken Stew, Stuart’s Japanese Curry Karaage, the Super Silly Veggie Burger, and the Mini Boss Lunch Box. Visitors can also sample Minion-inspired popcorn flavors from Pop-A-Nana, ensuring a culinary experience as playful as it is memorable.

Tickets to Universal Studios Singapore are priced from S$76 for adults and S$59 for children. In addition to the Universal Express pass, guests can now purchase the Universal Express Plus pass, which offers one-time priority access to participating rides and shows, including those within Minion Land. For further flexibility, an à la carte top-up to the Universal Express pass is also available, allowing single-use priority access specifically for Minion Land attractions.
