9 years ago I had kid 3. The others I had in Manhattan and walked a million miles a day + nursing = the weight melted off.

Maybe it was my “geriatric” age (38?) but my body took a hit.

Two months later my amazing friend PatriciaRibeiroWolfson hosted Camp Mom - an incredible day devoted to moms - at a local day camp. It was an empowering day with the simple goal of having us feel seen for a few hours while we ignored our invisible loads.

I tried a mindfulness exercise (which I LOVED) and think about it often while failing to do one since.

There were many spectacular parts of this day but I was most excited to try the trapeze.

I tried. I failed. MISERABLY. I was like a moored cow. Literally because I’m sure I was leaking while failing to fold myself in half. It was the perfect metaphor of how I felt at that moment in life. I was drowning. My husband worked long hours in the city, I had to get one kid to elementary school, one to nursery school, and take care of a newborn while juggling naps, meals, and nursing 7,000 times a day. I. Was. Drowning. Or to rebrand… I was full on stay-at-home-moming. This trapeze fail sealed the deal.

Or did it? As sad as I was, it forced me to make a goal. I swore I’d make it next year no matter what. I wanted control back of my life.

So I returned to a weekly yoga class with geniataub while juggling my kids. #1 on the bus, #2 to nursery school, #3 with my mom. For a year I worshipped this class. I got strong. I cleared my head.

A year later (and still nursing ❤️) I walked into 2017 Camp Mom ready to go. My goal was in sight. I waited patiently. The time came. Hands on the bar, butt in position - I swing, get my legs up, fold over the bar, and drop - upside down - arms wide open… and soar. I DID IT!

After my dumpster fire post last month (thanks to everyone who checked on me) I was really upset. A week later I started working at a camp that just installed a trapeze. For the last month I’ve walked past it every day thinking of this moment. That I can do anything if I set my mind to it. Which makes me smile.
