Wow. What a roller coaster. Jenny and I finished off our rowing careers with an 8th place at the Games. God this was not the result we wanted at all, as all year we trained with the belief we could podium. But in a twisted way our final race made up for a week of not our best showing, and a result I’m so proud of. We were beyond devastated with our performances that led us in the b final, and we knew it wasn’t our good shit. We felt like failures, like we had ruined 3 years of incredible training, and would have nothing to show for our improvements.

But between that emotional interview of ours going wild (like Prime Minister Trudeau commented…what world is this), and some tough conversations between us and Jer, we knew we had to reset and deliver the best performance we’ve done yet. Together, the three of us made a plan and keep digging in. That’s the way we started the journey together, and I’m proud we never wavered from our values. This allowed us to come back, put our heads down, and row our best race yet.

To anyone who’s somehow reading this because of that video…. Thank you. I’m humbled, in shock, and just beside myself. When I woke up to over 700 comments of Canadians backing us, I felt for this first time that there really is a country backing every Canadian athlete at these Games. The messages were beyond kind, heartwarming, and was a gleam of light on a pretty sad day. Thank you Canada, for being Canada. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Last and not least, thank you @boveclaire & @laura_tarantola for the best race of our regatta. Racing the two of you, on your home crowd, was everything the Olympics is about. You’ll always have two friends in Canada.
