Roughly 3-6% of earth’s population is affected by Arachnophobia so whoever was responsible for naming this roll dropped the ball. Nomenclature aside, the Spider Roll is elite and deserves more attention. Soft-shell crabs rule from late spring to early fall so to celebrate our 10-legged friends, we’re going to deep fry them in 350F oil! Sure, this is considered sushi here in The States, but really you’re super unlikely to find a spider roll in any traditional sushi spot in Japan because it was invented here and tailored for the American palate by savvy Japanese chefs. But yeah. It rules. Here’s why.
