🛑 STOP mining on Mt. Nimba! 🐵 Re:wild, iucn_sga and five other international conservation groups are urging Guinea to reconsider iron-ore mining impacting the UNESCO World Heritage site to protect threatened species including:

🐵 Critically Endangered Western Chimpanzees, which are culturally unique here in their use of tools, nest-building, and dining on crabs 🦀 

🐸 Critically Endangered Western Nimba Toads that give birth to live  toadlets 

🦇 Over 55 species of bats, including species found nowhere else on Earth

👉 Protecting Mt. Nimba means protecting biodiversity, communities, and the future of West Africa’s environment. 🌍 Together we are calling for a 5-year renewable moratorium on mining, stronger protections for threatened species, and sustainable financing to safeguard this irreplaceable ecosystem.
