UPDATE:  The Los Angeles Chargers have informed newly acquired quarterback Trey Lance that he has won the backup quarterback position this evening

Lance, who had a rough go of it this offseason in terms of finding a job now beats out veteran QB Taylor Heinecke to be Justin Herbert’s backup this season

Taylor Heinecke has since been released
