They say some of the greatest moments of your life won’t feel real when you look back on them, and that’s exactly how this feels. It’s been two weeks since I reached the East Coast and ran full force into the Atlantic after pushing 3,000 miles across the country, but the whole journey already feels like a blur, almost like it happened in a dream. One moment I was living on the side of the road, pushing mile after mile, and now I’m back in civilization where things feel familiar but strangely foreign approaching it with a newfound perspective.

I look for proof that I really did it, and I find it in my pink vest, covered in the names of everyone who donated to spinal cord research. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. You were with me through every uphill, every lonely stretch, every moment of doubt. You turned this skate across America into something so much bigger than me and together, we raised $55,522 for spinal cord research through Wings For Life, a gift of hope that will change so many lives.

I think about Roger, and how much it would have meant for him to see all these people come together for the cause that took his life. To hear his story being told. To hear his name roll off the tongues of people across the country. To know he wasn’t forgotten, but remembered with every single push.

Two weeks later, I’m still trying to process it all. The miles, two world records, the community, the love, but one thing I know for sure is this journey will always belong to everyone who made it possible.
