To become a scoring threat from the high slot, you need more than just a heavy shot. It begins with creating time and space using a 1st escape move—either a forehand escape or backhand escape. These quick lateral movements help you separate from pressure and open up shooting lanes 🌀.

Once you’ve created space, shift your focus to Underhandling the puck 🏒—less stickhandling, more control. Keep the puck in your sweet spot (just off your front foot) for a quicker release and greater deception.

Next, scan for soft ice—the quiet, open areas between defenders—and slide into those pockets while changing your shooting angle 📐. This adjustment forces goalies to move and reset, giving you a clear advantage.
