Today we honor the 135th anniversary of the Second Morrill Act of 1890, the landmark legislation that expanded land-grant education and created opportunities for African Americans in higher education.
For Prairie View A&M University, the 1890 Morrill Act strengthened our land-grant mission, allowing us to expand access, drive innovation, and serve communities across Texas and beyond.
135 years later, we continue to honor that legacy through teaching, research, and service.
