Mouth Culture, Reading Festival 2025

REVIEW: The rise and rise of Mouth Culture, from the UK underground's best-kept secret to genuine scene contenders, continues to be a joy to behold. And as the Festival Republic Stage gets more and more packed the longer that they stand upon it, it shows how the word being spread on their magnificence has no sign of slowing up yet.
So much of their allure, aside from their knack for penning a quirky hook, comes from vocalist Jack Voss, the epitome of charisma. He grins, he spins, and he incites chaos like it's second nature, lapping up every second of this occasion with the sort of joy and wonder that's as endearing as it comes. It's abundantly clear just how much having the chance to play this festival means to the ensemble, memories of standing on the other side of the barricade as fans in years past pinballing around their minds, and that sort of wide-eyed humility does absolute wonders to their performance, pushing the likes of 'Dead In Love' and 'Sharkbait' from lowkey pop-punk picks to world-beating anthems.
It's also a timeless prompt that the chance to live out the hopes and dreams of your misspent youth is always within reach. You just have to keep on doing your thing, and good things will happen.
And if such a feeling ever needed poster boys, you aren't going to find many finer representatives than the Mouth Culture lads.
