With an outstanding offensive performance, wide receiver Mike Evans now holds the franchise record of most points scored for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after his first quarter touchdown against the Philadelphia Eagles yesterday — breaking kicker Martin Gramatica’s 20-year reign. 

Additionally, linebacker Lavonte David joined Hall-of-Famer Derrick Brooks as the only players in franchise history with over 1,500 tackles. 

Under a blazing Florida sun, the Bucs dominated the game 33-16, barely allowing the Eagles past its defense and sacking quarterback Jalen Hurts six times. Philadelphia played without some of its keys players like receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, as well as right tackle Lane Johnson.

Tampa Bay quarterback Baker Mayfield bounced back from the team’s only loss of the season so far against the Denver Broncos throwing 347 yards, two touchdowns and completing 30 of 47 passes. 

“Wanted to get (previous week’s) taste out of our mouth, for sure,” Mayfield said. “Started fast because the guys were just locked in. We came out with a hair-on-fire mentality. Everybody was locked in on what the plan was and we executed. That needs to be the case every week. That’s how we need to start.”

The Bucs also had an extra spark on their side as former Tampa Bay quarterback and seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady was back at the Raymond James Stadium as part of the FOX television broadcast crew. 

Tampa Bay will face the Atlanta Falcons next this Thursday, Oct. 3 at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium and will be available to watch on Amazon Prime Video.
