Sometimes we make plans and they fall through — and that’s okay. I started the week with the best of intentions to follow through with the Yoga Sweat Challenge, committing to practicing once a day for 7 consecutive days, but I got a little *too* excited and decided that this would also be the perfect time to jump back into training at the gym after weeks of minimal fitness. In addition, my mom decided to join me for a workout last night (the first time we’ve *ever* taken a class together, thanks janybeans for the core death!) so of course I couldn’t say no to that either. The result? I woke up this morning feeling like my body had been run over by a tank, and had to skip day 2 of the challenge 😅

There’s two lessons to be learned through this:

1. Finding balance. If you’ve spent any time with me in person, you’ll know that I’m one excitable human and am the epitome of FOMO. When I find something that I like, I’ll do almost anything to have more of it in my life (see: music festivals, travels, and in this case, working out). It’s not usually a problem, but more often than not, I end up sacrificing way more than I should (i.e. money, health) to chase that high. So yes, live life and do more of what makes me happy, but also learn how not to go overboard. #notetoself

2. Listening to my body. When I got home last night, I seriously struggled whether or not to force myself to do the class anyway (at 12am, after having just done one of the toughest ab workouts in town!) just to be able to say that I did it even though my body was broken. I decided to make up for it this morning, but 11 minutes into the warm up, my body still resisted hard. So instead of pushing through, I put my ego aside and did what’s best for it (rest), so that I can take on day 3 of the challenge with the right mindset. And I’m glad I did, because by tonight it finally felt good to move again, and I no longer see the challenge as an unwanted obligation 😊

We’re almost at the halfway point! If you’re doing this challenge too, tag me in your posts and stories so we can cheer each other along ❤️
