This was the mission for SAINS (Sarawak Information Systems), the primary ICT provider for the Sarawak government in Malaysia. Tasked with spearheading the state's digital-first initiatives, SAINS needed to move from a traditional on-premises setup to a robust cloud platform capable of powering critical services, including the state's official e-wallet, S Pay Global.

By migrating to Alibaba Cloud, SAINS leveraged a suite of powerful products including Elastic Compute Service (ECS), ApsaraDB for RDS, and advanced security solutions like Web Application Firewall (WAF) and Anti-DDoS. This provided the high availability and robust security needed to handle massive transaction volumes, especially for government aid distribution, while meeting the strict compliance standards of Malaysia's central bank.

The result? S Pay Global successfully grew to serve over 600,000 users and 87,000 merchants, establishing a powerful digital backbone for the state. SAINS created a scalable, secure, and efficient ecosystem, transforming digital payments and public services for the people of Sarawak.
