He just said it and walked away / I came back in tears (again) . I’ve been privileged enough to have access to the best of things (thanks to my husband / before MIL reminds me 🙄), designer clothes, the highest heels, fancy jewels - but when I decided to get on this stage, I decided I’m going to be me as I want to see myself. Comfortable (cotton kurta), quirky (belt!), imperfect (messy bun), modest (sweaters for life) and fully grounded in my sneakers (no more pretending I like 👠) . It’s thrilling to see Indian women embrace themselves as they are and even more thrilling to know that there are incredible Indian uncles out there who track their wives’ happiness - I felt guilty for making so many Indian men jokes 😞 . I called my husband to tell him about this sweet interaction and how deeply it affected me - his big takeaway was ‘you should start a kurta line’ . So I started yelling at him, ‘that’s all you have to say?’ - he goes ‘you said she wears her kurtas more because of you’ and I said yes but what about all the other stuff I said - he says ‘oh my AirPod fell out but you cry about this stuff all the time, I figured I didn’t miss anything’ .
