As we wrap up our celebration of #UNC25, hear from #UNCgrad Nia Satterfield Brown about a few of her favorite moments at Carolina. 

🎓 Nia is from the Bronx, New York. This May, she received her bachelor’s in media and journalism and exercise and sports science with a hispanic studies minor.

🐏 A highlight of her Carolina experience was the sports culture. “From sitting front row at games to enjoying carolinabaseball, and most fondly, watching uncwomenssoccer earn their 23rd national championship, being at the University of National Champions has been nothing short of amazing. I also had an amazing time studying abroad in two countries, so shoutout uncstudyabroad!”

💬 Nia’s advice to Tar Heels is, “Don’t get too overwhelmed, but also don’t let your undergraduate years get away from you. There are so many opportunities and resources to leverage while at #UNC, so make the best decisions for you and don’t get discouraged if things don’t work out immediately.”

🩵 After graduating, Nia will miss spring semesters and the beautiful scenery. “My camera roll is filled with pictures of flowers, buildings in beautiful lighting and other places around Chapel Hill.”

👣 When asked how she imagines her Heelprint at Carolina, she said, “I’ve left my Heelprint at Carolina by creating spaces where authentic voices thrive, building bridges between communities and charting new paths in sports journalism. As founder of the ‘Beyond the Game’ podcast, I cultivated a platform where athletes entrusted me with their most vulnerable stories. Under my leadership, the Carolina Association of Black Journalists experienced transformative growth. My most profound impact lies in challenging the sports media landscape itself. I will forever credit Carolina for helping me discover my voice and creating pathways  to realize my potential as a communicator and an advocate who empowers others.”
