Lupe’s already making a splash in San Diego! 🦛💦

Lupe (short for Guadalupe!) is the newest river hippo to join the bloat with fellow hippo girlies, Funani and Amahle. The 24 year-old hippo from woodlandparkzoo is loving her underwater world at Hippo Trail. As a very social species, and with the recent passing of her companion at Woodland Park Zoo, we’re honored to welcome her into our social group.

Her arrival is part of an AZA Species Survival Plan to support her well-being, as well as the long-term conservation of hippos.
