Harry Fonseca presents himself as his alter ego, Coyote, decked out in jeans, boots, and a distinctive leather motorcycle jacket. Often Fonseca used Coyote, a trickster figure for many Native tribes, to challenge viewers’ perceptions of Native people as unchanging. Here, Coyote stands boldly on a street corner in his late-twentieth-century American regalia, a part of the urban scene, but no less Native.
