What did we accomplish last week? We held a party! It's nothing but parties here in the Public Service. 😉

We want to extend special thanks to the Canada Black Music Archives for their partnership in organizing this month's Black History Month showcase about Toronto's Hip Hop history and its contributions to our city. Here are some photos from our event on Friday night.

1. Anessa O. loaned us her incredible collection of Toronto Hip Hop ephemera from the 1980s and 1990s so we could make display copies for the exhibit. Thank you!
2. Hip Hop historian Professor Mark V. Campbell of U of T Scarborough taught us how and when our city was first called the Screwface Capital, TeeDot, and the 6ix, key pieces of Toronto's identity.
3. DJs Joey of Sound Quest and Carl Allen set the mood.
4. Haviah Mighty brought powerful energy to her performance.
5. Mathematik had the lyrics and the moves.
6. King Lou and Capital Q. of the Dream Warriors had the crowd on their feet.

What a night!
