'I’ve always been fascinated by food and its role in health, and I want to help my mob, so luckily I found a fitting career.' 🥑🥕🍎⁣

Dietician Gabrial has a deeply personal journey into healthcare.⁣
⁣
'I had a family friend pass away from a severe eating disorder, which really motivated me to pursue a career where I could make a difference to people in remote areas,' he said.⁣
⁣
'I love being able to help people get better through food. There’s so much creativity and problem solving involved, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see the positive impact food can have on someone’s health.'⁣
⁣
Originally from North West Tasmania in Palawa Country, Gabrial's been living and working in Mount Isa since earlier this year. He credits one of his clinical educators for encouraging his move to Queensland's North West.⁣
⁣
'They told me about the First Nations Allied Health Graduate Pathway and how great Mount Isa was, so far, I have to agree. The teamwork here is incredible,' he said.⁣
⁣
'It’s like one big supportive family working together to make a difference. What really stands out to is the camaraderie and sense of community both within the Allied Health team and the town.'⁣
⁣
In his free time, Gabrial enjoys playing basketball, a sport he previously played semi-professionally in Tasmania. 🏀⁣
⁣
'I had to put basketball on hold to focus on my studies, but now that I’ve found a great job with flexible hours, I’m finally able to enjoy the game again.'⁣
