If someone near you became unresponsive, would you know what to do?

An automated external defibrillator (AED), also known as a ‘defib’, can help restart a heart during cardiac arrest. They are only used on someone who is unresponsive and not breathing normally. 

Before you use the AED, make sure you:
✅ CHECK the person and scene: is the person responsive? Are they breathing normally? Is the area safe for you to help?
📞 CALL emergency services (Triple Zero - 000): put the phone on speaker and follow their instructions
👐 CARE — this is where the AED comes in. 

The AED tells you exactly what to do with audio cues. You just need to listen, and act.
