## Caption

Why is is that so many publishers are only interested in reviewing the latest gear? We get it: New stuff is exciting. And you can sell a lot more gear by encouraging people to upgrade every year. But I think we’re all aware that most of the time, the latest is not always the greatest. 

Our Editors’ Lists don’t pretend that the newest gear is always the best. They’re a combination of some newer gear, older items that we still think are the best options, and even gear you can’t get any more—sometimes highlighting those items shine a light on what the gear industry is missing. 

After all, often the best gear is the stuff already in your closet.
