The F-4 Phantom II flew its last active duty flight on Dec. 21, 2016, at hollomanafb, New Mexico. Prior to the final flight, airmanmagazine sat down with Retired Lt. Col. Jim “WAM” Harkins to discuss the storied aircraft. The F-4 entered the usairforce inventory in 1963 and would go on to fly bombing, combat air patrol, fighter escort, reconnaissance, and anti-aircraft missile suppression missions.
