The 8.3x zoom on this is way better than a compact zoom has the right to be.

Being a Sony, the RX100 VII has a lot of tech and can do a lot of things really well. Like shoot for social video content thanks to a mic input, flipup LCD and 4k vertical cropless capture. 

But whip this out at a concert and even if you're nowhere near the front, the zoom and superfast autofocus shoots the stage in unbelievable clarity for a one-inch sensor.
